Alfas at The Glen 2015

Awesome event at The Glen. Forty+ Alfas having great fun and fellowship for the third time in fifteen years.

Big thanks to the committee led by Rob Mocas, Eliseo Carillo, Dick Giambra, Vince Vacarro, Sam Smith and Les Smith. Great art by Robert Colaizzi, fantastic slideshow from former ARI employee and Autodelta gopher Robert Little. Support from FCA supplying a new 4C for folks to drool over. Two, TWO, Tipo 33 sports racing cars. Pre-War Alfa driven by Nuvolari back in the day. Great stuff.

Peter, it was the first one I have missed. And I spent all weekend wishing I was there with you guys. By the way, Kudos to the organizers who found a place for my brother and his former SCCA G-Prod championship Giulietta.

Curtis' car is the Tom Mankin three-time National Championship G car. http://www.thiscrazygarage.com/104OctaneJJ.html

Steve, who built and drove the 1980 National Championship GP car, still builds bespoke gearboxes for a wide variety of current racers, including the ex-Mankin car.

I've done a lot of business with Steve, in my former life...

David. The Schwitters car is on eBay here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Alfa-Romeo-Veloce-Spider-/291542256301?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276

This car won the SCCA National Championship Runoffs race in 1980. As displayed at the Glen it had the correct for 1980 dry sump 1300 downdraft Solex power. Don't think it has been on track for a very very long time but the engine and gearbox were said to be professionally refreshed, I thought it looked authentic and clean..

SVRA was kind enough to allow my car a one off to run at Alfas at the Glen fitted with 1600 in group 8 with only the addition of treaded tires. The Schwitters car would be a blast to own and race in group 3 or 8 but terrifying if they insisted on putting you in with the bigger bore slick shod group, which is what would happen without a special pass of some kind. Just my humble opinion of course.

Just a side note, we at HSR recognize the history of cars such as this and we will find a safe and comfortable place for you to race. We actually have a class for "prod cars" and you can run your slicks.
